Scots legend Andy Cameron to make Ayr Gaiety return for first time in 25 years

A legend of Scottish stage and screen will roll back time to wow the crowds in Ayr this Saturday night.

Comedian Andy Cameron is appearing at the Gaiety for the first time in 25 years as part of a new variety offering.

The 'Jerry Taylor Show' is pledging to bring a night of “Organised Chaos” to the stage – with fun for all the family.

Written and produced by Ayr theatre impresario, Jerry Taylor, the show will feature local stars like singers Abbie Watson and Stephanie Falls, rising acting star Ellis Leverton-Hill and promising comic duo Callum McDonald and Cameron Wilson.

Jerry told Ayrshire Live: “It’s a thrill for the whole cast to be working with someone of Andy’s stature.

“For the younger folks, just having that opportunity is priceless and I know they’ll grab it with both hands.

"I'll never forget winning a competition when I was a kid to do a stand-up workshop with the legendary Johnny Beattie.

"Those are the memories that stay with you forever and getting a chance to work with the top professionals is something that money can't buy."

Jerry, who now runs his own youth theatre Hipshot, is backing comic double act McDonald and Wilson to turn heads.

He added: "They've come all the way through Hipshot and are incredibly talented - they deserve everything heading their way in the future.

"They are absolute naturals on stage and have great chemistry together.

"All of the routines the audience will see on Saturday night are entirely original and we just want people to leave their troubles at the door and have a couple of hours of stupid fun.

“Having Andy with us is the icing on the cake. He is the ultimate professional and a real legend of our industry. We can’t wait to see him in action.”

Tickets, priced £18-£26, for Saturday’s show are available from the Gaiety Box Office on 01292 288235 or by visiting HERE.
