Cops swooped on two suspected gangsters who arrived at Glasgow Airport from Dubai yesterday.
The man and woman were detained in connection with serious organised crime offences yesterday afternoon after returning to Scotland from the United Arab Emirates.
Police Scotland had been acting on a tip-off that the jet-setters would be coming through the arrivals after leaving the desert kingdom.
The airport was busy with plain-clothed officers ahead of the operation which was focused on Emirates flight EK27, which landed at 12.43pm.
It’s thought at least six officers were involved in detaining the man, 29, and woman, 23.
They had been travelling on the Emirates Boeing 777, which carries over 300 passengers.
The aircraft had left Dubai - known for its extravagant five-star hotels and luxury shopping malls - at 7.57am yesterday.
Seats on the plane in June this year cost around £920 for an economy return, £4,600 for a business class two-way ticket, and £8,000 for a First Class round trip.
One traveller said: "The airport was swarming with police officers but we didn’t know that until they had arrested them as they were undercover, dressed just in normal clothes.
"There were at least six cops involved in grabbing the couple who looked shocked they were being arrested.
"It all kicked-off at passport control and it looked like a huge operation.
"Most of the passengers were tired getting off the plane but this gave everyone a jolt."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, officers, acting on intelligence, arrested a 29-year-old man, and a 23-year-old woman at Glasgow Airport in relation to serious and organised crime offences. Enquiries are ongoing."
A Glasgow Airport spokesperson said: "We wouldn’t comment on a Police Scotland matter such as this."
