A Scots football club has been left shocked after one fan asked for a pie in a doughnut as a halftime snack. Nairn County FC, who are (unsurprisingly) based in Nairn and play in the Highland Football League, shared the image on Twitter with it quickly going viral.
Posting the photo of the culinary creation ordered at Station Park, the team added: "You’ve heard of Pie in a Roll. Last night at the John Wilson Memorial Match at Station Park, someone asked for a Pie in a Doughnut.
"Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you. That is a PIE SANDWICHED BETWEEN A DOUGHNUT."
The tweet quickly had hundreds of likes and retweets as well as being shared across other social media sites.
One follower joked: "Football banning order required."
While another added: "Move over John Logie Baird, Scotland has a new hero."
One even pointed out that the Americanised version of the 'Glasgow Oyster' could be a money spinner, writing: "Be proud, you’ve just invented a whole new food genre - the pienut (or doughpie). American food influencers will fly in for the experience in their droves and put it on Instagram."
The club have yet to confirm if it will be a permanent addition but they did recently hit the headlines for offering a pie in a roll.
