A Scots factory has gone up in flames sparking an emergency response this afternoon.
Fire crews raced to Ardagh Glass on Portland Place in Irvine after the alarm was raised at around 3.55pm on Wednesday, April 20.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent four appliances to the scene and firefighters were still battling the flames shortly before 6pm this evening.
Dramatic pictures taken from the scene show the glass manufacturing building well alight.
Huge plumes of black smoke can be seen billowing up into the sky while the roof of the building can be seen to be badly damaged by the blaze.
It's understood staff were quickly evacuated and some have been treated for smoke inhalation - however, there are not thought to be any serious injuries.
