A Scots dad has stunned doctors after making a miracle recovery from a near-lethal bout of pneumonia.
Freddy White's family were told to say their last goodbyes after the 45-year-old was diagnosed with the infection following a collapse at his son's football game. The dad, from Moredun in Edinburgh, said that fighting talk from partner Michelle, 44, and 12-year-old son Mason helped him pull through.
Edinburgh Live reports that Freddy has battled through life to even be alive – after being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at five years old and being told he would be unlikely to see 12. But matters came to a head when he blacked out after kicking a football and he was rushed to Edinburgh's Western General Hospital.
