A Scots couple in their 60s were seriously assaulted in a 'targeted' attack in Musselburgh at the weekend.
The incident happened on a quiet residential street in the town at around 9.30pm on Saturday evening.
A 61-year-old man and a 62-year-old were both injured, with the woman rushed to hospital for hospital treatment.
Police Scotland have appealed for anyone with information regarding the assault to contact them on 101 after the couple was assaulted on Stoneybank Terrace.
Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report on Sunday, 14 August, in relation to a serious assault that happened in the Stoneybank Terrace area of Musselburgh.
"The incident happened around 9.30pm on Saturday, 13 August, when a 61-year-old man and a 62-year old woman were injured. The woman went to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information that can assist our investigation is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 3094 of Sunday, 14 August, 2022."
