Scots cook makes 'incredible' fry-up using hot cross bun as fans rush to kitchen to try for themselves

When it comes to cooking, creativity is absolutely vital as some pairings that work incredibly well together aren't obvious right away.

From peanut butter and jam to vodka-tomato sauce, some innovation is needed to come up with food that's worth remembering. And with Giant Hot Cross Buns returning to Aldi shelves, a Scottish cook has come up with a unique way to serve the breakfast treat.

Jack, who posts on TikTok under the username @jack.cooks, decided that he wanted to use the oversized Easter treat for a fry up, which fans are calling 'incredible'.

In the social media clip, which was shared to Jack's 127,000 followers, the keen cook topped his hot cross bun with sausage patties, crispy bacon, black pudding, beans and sunny side up fried eggs.

He captioned his video: "Fry up with an Easter twist? I made a mega breakfast stack using @AldiUK Giant Hot Cross Buns."

Jack started off by introducing his plans for the video and then said: "I start by halvling the hot-cross bun"

He went on: "For a massive big bun you'll need a massive big pan. I'm gonna toast both sides of it."

After making the hefty meal he says: "Check out the size of that.

"Give it a slice through and portion it off into four corners... I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to eat this, it is enormous."

The clip has received more than 5,000 views from fans with one saying that the breakfast meal "looks incredible" while another called it "top tier".

It comes as Aldi has once again launched Giant Hot Cross Buns from March 23 for a second year after it proved so popular in 2022.

Research from the supermarket shows that more than a quarter - 26.6 percent - of Brits see Hot Cross Buns as breakfast food.
