An Alice Cooper superfan is preparing to celebrate 25 years of worshipping the star by attending her 19th concert this weekend.
Carol McLean first saw her hero at a gig in Glasgow in 1997 and still proudly wears the t-shirt she bought at the show.
Since then, the 48-year-old has toured the UK to watch the rocker on stage at various locations including Milton Keynes, London and Liverpool.
On Saturday May 28, she will travel to the OVO Hydro from her home in Aberdeen to watch the 74-year-old on his latest UK tour.
Carol, an admin worker, who has decked out her house with memorabilia inspired by the singer, told how her love for horror films initially drew her to Cooper’s music.
She said: “I’m a rocker and I love horror films so being drawn to his music just sort of clicked.
“Some of his songs mean things to me and bring real emotions so I’m a big fan that way.
“He’s there in good times and he’s there in bad times with his music. And then when you go to a concert, it’s like ‘wow’.
“He puts on different shows each time you go to see him so it’s almost like you’re hooked back in all the time.
“I usually go to Glasgow for the concerts so it would be a weekend away.
“I try to make it into a big event so I can’t put a figure on how much I’ve spent over the years but I’ve done a couple of meet and greets.
“I don’t do that as a regular thing though because it would cost a fortune. It’s not about the money though - it’s what I enjoy and it’s a passion.”
Carol first met Cooper in 2018 alongside his band mates Johnny Depp and Joe Perry from rock supergroup The Hollywood Vampires.
The following year, she happily posed for pictures alongside her idol who visited her home city leaving her “over the moon”.
Carol added: “I have met Alice twice over the years and I have always had a connection to his music as I’m a big horror and rock fan.
“Whenever he is playing in Scotland I’m there but I’ve seen him in Milton Keynes, London, Liverpool too.
“In 2019, to my surprise, he played my home city of Aberdeen. I was over the moon and met him there.
“It’s been 25 years after first seeing him in 1997 so it’s worth celebrating. I’ve still got my t-shirt that I bought at that concert and wear it with pride.
“I made him a doll which is on the tour bus and I recently made a cushion with his face on it. I make Alice-related stuff and my house is becoming weirdly Alice-related but it’s what I’m into.
“He’s almost like a father figure. Everyone always says I’m in love with him but I’m not.
“He’s a character on the stage - like Freddie Kruger. At the end of the day, he’s got a wife and a family. I admire how long he’s been married and everything he stands for.”
