ScotRail has issued a travel warning to the near 60,000 people going to see Bruce Springsteen in Edinburgh tonight.
May has been a busy month for BT Murrayfield as past weeks have seen Beyoncé and Harry Styles play to sold out concerts. Next up is Bruce Springsteen, who is performing in the rugby stadium in his first gig in Scotland since 2016.
The train operator is adding extra carriages in and out of Edinburgh Waverley, along with extra trains planned for the end of the concert. However, Scotrail has urged concertgoers to allow extra time for travel as services are expected to be "very busy".
The concert is set to begin at 7pm with gates to Murrayfield open from 4:30pm, but ScotRail is advising fans to get to the venue early.
The firm recommends customers travelling by rail to buy their return tickets for travel through the mTicket system on the ScotRail app, which will reduce their need to queue on the day.
Haymarket station is also expected to be much busier than normal in the afternoon and early evening. ScotRail is encouraging Bruce Springsteen fans to walk to Haymarket at the end of the gig where queuing systems will be in place.
People travelling to and from Fife are encouraged to travel to the concert via Edinburgh Gateway station to reduce queuing time for fans travelling to and from Fife. Edinburgh Tram provides a direct link from the station to the stadium.
ScotRail will have extra staff on hand at key stations across the network to help customers, who are also reminded that the consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail services and in ScotRail stations.
"We’re doing what we can to help music fans travel to see Bruce Springsteen perform at BT Murrayfield on Tuesday, and I am delighted we have been able to add more seats and some extra trains to help people enjoy the occasion," said Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations.
"I'd encourage customers to travel to the stadium early as trains will be much busier than normal. Our advice to anyone travelling is to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel to and from the concert.
"Buying return tickets in advance on the ScotRail app or website will minimise your need to queue and help your day run smoothly."
Tonight's sold out concert comes after three huge shows at Murrayfield in recent weeks. Harry Styles played two back-to-back concerts at the stadium last weekend, a week after Beyoncé made the venue the first stop of her tour on May 20.
