Scotland XI v Ukraine confirmed as Ryan Jack, Greg Taylor and Kieran Tierney decisions made

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke has named his starting XI that will face off against Ukraine in UEFA Nations League action.

The former Kilmarnock manager takes his side back to Hampden after a disappointing summer break, where they tumbled out of World Cup 2022 contention and lost 3-0 to the Republic of Ireland. Captain Andy Robertson is injured and in-form Celtic left-back Greg Taylor had been tipped to come in for him, but he doesn't, with Arsenal's Kieran Tierney returning from injury.

Jack Hendry and Scott McKenna are also in defence while midfielders Ryan Jack and Billy Gilmour are both on the bench, with the latter's minutes limited so far this season after his Brighton move. Che Adams starts in attack.

Rangers battler Jack says that ahead of two matches with Ukraine and a home contest with Ireland, Scotland have to be on their game to achieve a boost to their Euro 2024 hopes: "We have three big games and a lot of talented players who are in good form.

"It hopefully bodes well. We know Ukraine and the Republic of Ireland will be strong but we'll focus on what we can do to take the game to them and see where it takes us."

Scotland XI: Gordon, Patterson, McTominay, Tierney, McGinn, McGregor, Adams, Christie, Hendry, McKenna, Armstrong.

Subs: Kelly, McCrorie, Taylor, Porteous, Dykes, Gilmour, Ralston, Fraser, Jack, Hickey, McLean.
