Scotland vs Wales: Six Nations 2023: Kick-off time, TV channel, team news, lineups, venue, odds today

Scotland host Wales at Murrayfield bidding to build on their win over England and underline their Six Nations title credentials.

The Scots are riding high after winning 29-23 at Twickenham last weekend and will be strong favourites against Wales, who must win to keep their tournament alive after losing 34-10 to Ireland.

In both 2021 and 2022, Scotland beat England in their first Six Nations match before losing to Wales a week later, bringing an immediate halt to the momentum that had been generated. They will, though, believe this Wales side is there for the taking.

Warren Gatland has never lost to Scotland as Wales head coach in 11 matches but that record has never been under greater threat.

Here’s all you need to know about the game...

Scotland vs Wales date, kick-off time and venue

Scotland vs Wales is the second Six Nations match on Saturday, February 11, after Ireland face France in a blockbuster clash in Dublin earlier in the day.

The game is due to begin at 4:45pm GMT, taking place at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

Scotland vs Wales team news

Scotland have made one change to the XV who started against England, with Zander Fagerson returning from a hamstring injury and back at tighthead prop in place of WP Nel, who drops to the bench.

Fagerson’s return means that Glasgow Warriors team-mate Simon Berghan drops out of the matchday squad altogether.

There is still no Hamish Watson after concussion problems as Luke Crosbie continues alongside captain Jamie Ritchie and Matt Fagerson in the back row.

There’s a changing of the guard of sorts for Wales after that chastening defeat by Ireland, with former captain Alun Wyn Jones and Justin Tipuric cut from the squad completely and Taulupe Faletau demoted to the bench.

Wyn Jones is back at loosehead after missing the autumn through injury, with Dillon Lewis in on the other side of skipper Ken Owens as Gareth Thomas and Tomas Francis drop out.

Gatland has kept his backline the same, with Joe Hawkins and Rio Dyer again lining up along with Josh Adams, Liam Williams, George North and half-back pairing Tomos Williams and Dan Biggar.

Scotland vs Wales prediction

A statement victory followed by a stumbling performance has been a regular theme for Scotland, and their task is to ensure a hat-trick of wins over England is not followed by a hat-trick of defeats to Wales.

They can take plenty of confidence from their ruthless Twickenham display, while Townsend has insisted his side “can grow more” in the weeks ahead.

History is not necessarily on their side - Scotland have never won their first two matches of the Six Nations and they have never beaten Warren Gatland.

What is on their side is a Wales team that struggled badly in Cardiff last week, even if Ireland, the best team in the world, will prove far too good for most sides.

Gatland went for experience in the opening game, but a number of those trusted players looked to be past their best and changes had to be made. This would arguably be the most disappointing of all the recent defeats Scotland have suffered to Wales, but they should be confident of coming out on top.

Scotland to win, by 10 points.

Scotland vs Wales odds

Scotland to win: 4/11

Wales to win: 12/5

Draw: 19/1
