Scotland vs Ukraine to be SCRAPPED within 24 hours as final decision on World Cup play off imminent

Scotland's World Cup eliminator with Ukraine later this month will be officially scrapped within the next 24 hours as the Russian invasion continues to escalate.

Record Sport revealed last week the semi-final play-off – meant to go ahead at Hampden in less than three weeks' time – will be rescheduled to take place in June after FIFA received a request from Kyiv.

And world football’s governing body have informed the SFA Ukraine will be in no position to send a side to Glasgow on March 24.

That has led to some frantic talks behind the scenes as the authorities try to work out the fairest way of proceeding, with a final decision on fixtures expected to be announced imminently, possibly even as soon as Tuesday.

Steve Clarke and his Scotland players must now wait for another three months to discover when, or if, the Ukrainians will be able to compete in the play-offs.

FIFA have also announced foreign players and coaches in Ukraine as well as Russia will be allowed to rip up their contracts and move to another country as free agents.
