Six Nations round four continued with a headline clash between Scotland and France at Murrayfield on Saturday, a 90-point thriller of a match which turned out to be a rugby union classic. Les Bleus travelled north with hopes of a Grand Slam and potentially wrapping up the title on the penultimate weekend, only for the Scots - buoyed by successive home nation wins after losing to Italy - to take an early lead through Darcy Graham.
France soon bit back with two quickfire tries, one from the lethal Louis Bielle-Biarrey - scoring in his ninth straight Six Nations appearance - and another set up by the 22-year-old for fellow wing Theo Attissogbe, but the hosts weren’t behind for long as Kyle Steyn and Pierre Schoeman charged over. Then, a blistering start to the second period saw Scotland lead by 47-14 not long after the hour mark thanks to seconds from Steyn and Graham plus scores from Ben White and substitute Tom Jordan.
Error-riddled for much of the afternoon, the French clinched a bonus point - which kept them top of the Six Nations table, and could prove pivotal in the title deciders next weekend - amid a late four-try flurry, reaching 40 on the scoreboard at the death after Finn Russell - near-perfect in his conversions - booted over a penalty to take Scotland to 50. Six Nations 2026 table as it stands
17:21 , Alex DakersFrance still have it in their own hands to repeat as Six Nations champions, but Scotland and Ireland have made it a three-horse race on the final day.
Les Bleus, the defending champions, saw their hopes of a first Grand Slam since 2022 dashed by the Scots at Murrayfield in a 90-point thriller after Ireland saw off a spirited Wales a day earlier.
There were bonus points to be had for each of the three remaining challengers in round four, which in France’s case crucially kept them top of the table on points difference over Scotland, who recovered from an opening day loss in Italy to beat both England and Wales.
Already out of the title conversation themselves before their trip to Rome, England - in action now, with live coverage right here - could still have a part to play in this championship race as they visit Paris in the tournament’s final game next Saturday.
Ireland, meanwhile, were beaten in France on matchday one but have since roared back into contention by putting Italy, England and Wales to the sword. They host Scotland in round five, having failed to lose to their in-form near neighbours in Dublin for nine years.

Graham: 'All to play for' next weekend
16:33 , Alex DakersSome reaction from two-try man Darcy Graham: "That game was crazy, a 90-point game, it's unheard of.
"You know what they're like, such a big unit, such a quality team and knew what they'd bring today and we did well to stop it.
"It's a special win for us.
The Scotland No14 added: "Yeah of course [we can beat Ireland in Dublin next weekend], confidence is right up there, everyone is loving life, it would be nice to go over to Ireland and get that win.
“It's all to play for."

Report: Scotland in Six Nations title race after beating France in 90-point Murrayfield thriller.
16:18 , Alex DakersScotland put themselves in contention for a first-ever Guinness Six Nations title with a sensational seven-try 50-40 victory over France at Murrayfield.
Les Bleus arrived in Edinburgh knowing a bonus-point win over Gregor Townsend’s men would have sealed them a second consecutive championship and teed them up for a first Grand Slam since 2022.
But it was the rampant Scots who produced one of their greatest-ever performances to blow Fabien Galthie’s team away.

They’ll remain there unless France get a bonus point.

15:41 , Alex Dakers67mins: The conversion is good, and France - who’ve been a man down with Nouchi in the sin bin since the 59th - break 20 points. They’ll be hoping for a bonus now.
Bad news for Scotland, with Kyle Steyn down receiving treatment after making a tackle on Dupont as the Frenchman went over the line.
Steyn is carted off but looks to be in alright spirits as he receives a raucous standing ovation from Murrayfield.

Scotland 33-14 France

Scotland 33-14 France
15:27 , Alex Dakers56mins: Blair Kinghorn breaks free after receiving from the brilliantly patient Finn Russell, you think he might swerve through himself but he looks for Darcy Graham on the right wing and puts slightly too much oomph on the pass, with the ball going out of play.

Nearly into the 22.
Back underway
15:09 , Alex Dakers41mins: We go again!
Game far from over
15:05 , Alex DakersScotland will be confident in how they’ve played so far, but they’ll know that if there’s one team you don’t want to switch off against in this tournament for a second it’s France.
The French team is star-studded, including 22-year-old Louis Bielle-Biarrey who sparked the temporary Les Bleus comeback in the first half by scoring for the ninth straight Six Nations match.

HT: Scotland 19-14 France
14:54 , Alex DakersScotland go in as the much happier side at the break at Murrayfield.
The hosts took an early lead in the opening five minutes with Darcy Graham running in, only to fall behind by the 23rd minute thanks to two quickfire converted French tries from Bielle-Biarrey and Theo Attissogbe.
The Scots then hit back through Kyle Steyn and Pierre Schoeman, with Finn Russell clinching all but one of his extras.
A massive second half to come - back shortly!
Scotland 19-14 France
14:53 , Alex Dakers39mins: Russell booted to the corner from that penalty but Scotland can’t quite break through on this occasions when play resumes.
Another change for the hosts, D’Arcy Rae being replaced by Zander Fagerson in a planned sub for a Scotland set-piece, which comes to nothing with Schoeman penalised.
Scotland 19-14 France
14:50 , Alex Dakers37mins: Another penalty to Scotland from a scrum now.
The one negative during the hosts’ last try was the loss of Gregor Brown, who limped off afterwards to be replaced by Grant Gilchrist.
Scotland 19-14 France
14:47 , Alex Dakers34mins: Matthieu Jalibert was yellow-carded during that and will spend the next eight or so minutes in the sin bin.
CONVERSION! Scotland 19-14 France
14:46 , Alex Dakers34mins: Russell’s conversion is good this time, and Scotland extend their lead to five!
TRY! Scotland 17-14 France
14:45 , Alex Dakers33mins: Penalty advantage to Scotland right in front of the posts, they work it right and Ben White nearly gets there - then Pierre Schoeman does!
Scotland 12-14 France
14:44 , Alex Dakers31mins: France get a disciplinary warning and Russell kicks Scotland into the righthand corner.
It’s worked back to the middle and Huw Jones nearly bundles over, the Scots are pushed back but keep coming.
Scotland 12-14 France
14:40 , Alex Dakers28mins: The conversion from a tough angle over on the left doesn’t quite curl in this time for Russell, and Scotland remain two down.
TRY! Scotland 12-14 France
14:39 , Alex Dakers27mins: A perfect piece of play from Scotland from a lineout in the French 22 ends with Kyle Steyn charging over.
What a game we have on our hands!

CONVERSION! Scotland 7-14 France
14:35 , Alex Dakers23mins: Ramos converts again, and suddenly Scotland are behind.
TRY! Scotland 7-12 France
14:34 , Alex Dakers22mins: Dreamland to disaster for Scotland, who give away a penalty and before they know it France’s rapid wingers combine down the left with Theo Attissogbe getting over in the corner.

CONVERSION! Scotland 7-7 France
14:31 , Alex Dakers19mins: Thomas Ramos nails the conversion from out wide, and the scores are back level!
TRY! Scotland 7-5 France
14:29 , Alex Dakers18mins: But Scotland gave away possession, the visitors switch the ball to the left and Louis Bielle-Biarrey gets over!
Antoine Dupont pinched the ball there, great play from the French skipper.
Scotland 7-0 France
14:28 , Alex Dakers17mins: France making progress with every phase, but on the 10th Attissogbe can’t quite claim a punted pass from Jalibert - ball goes into touch and it’s a Scottish scrum.
Scotland 7-0 France
14:27 , Alex Dakers16mins: The visitors are inside Scotland’s 22 again now, though...
Scotland 7-0 France
14:26 , Alex Dakers15mins: France look to break at a blistering pace down the right through Attissogbe but a misplaced pass gifts Scotland possession again.
The Scots kick to the heavens and here come the French, kicking downfield but Finn Russell is there to chase it back to his own tryline.
Scotland 7-0 France
14:24 , Alex Dakers14mins: Ref calls for a reset, and we go again.
Scotland 7-0 France
14:23 , Alex Dakers12mins: Scotland are back in the French half now but a loose ball is pounced upon by Bielle-Biarrey.
Scrappy play though, and it ends in a France scrum.
Scotland 7-0 France
14:21 , Alex Dakers10mins: The scrum ends in a penalty to Scotland near their try line, and Gregor Townsend will be a very happy man so far.
Scotland 7-0 France
14:20 , Alex Dakers9mins: ... but Scotland get a scrum!
Scotland 7-0 France
14:19 , Alex Dakers8mins: Danger for the Scots now as France break and kick into the attacking 22, winning a line-out...
CONVERSION! Scotland 7-0 France
14:17 , Alex Dakers6mins: And the conversion is good from Russell.
A dream start for the Scots!
TRY! Scotland 5-0 France
14:16 , Alex Dakers5mins: Scotland charge into the French 22 and Murrayfield springs into life.
Finn Russell offloads to Darcy Graham, and the hosts lead!
France are behind for the first time at this Six Nations tournament.

Scotland 0-0 France
14:14 , Alex Dakers4mins: Cagey feel to these opening minutes as Scotland win it back, then boot down the line again - but this time, a knock-on as Ramos fumbles while looking up into the Edinburgh sun.
Scotland 0-0 France
14:13 , Alex Dakers2mins: Scottish possession for a spell but they’re struggling to break the French line and boot downfield for the visitors to claim.
KICK-OFF!
14:11 , Alex Dakers1mins: Underway at Murrayfield, after roaring renditions of both national anthems from the packed stands and the pitch alike.
Will Scotland send the French homeward empty-handed today, or can Les Bleus clinch a second straight Six Nations title? Let’s find out!
Team news reminder

Teams on the pitch
14:06 , Alex DakersScotland kept France waiting in the tunnel, but both teams are out on the Murrayfield pitch now.
Here we go, folks!
In-form Bielle-Biarrey
14:03 , Alex DakersThere’s always plenty of noise about France’s mercurial captain Antoine Dupont, but how will Scotland deal with the blistering form of Louis Bielle-Biarrey today?
The 22-year-old has scored 24 tries in 25 Tests coming into today’s match, including getting over in eight straight Six Nations games.

Townsend: 'Team that limits errors will come out on top'
14:03 , Alex DakersAs I was mentioning avoiding errors, Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend had this to say on BBC One a few moments ago...
"I think it'll be a great game for supporters and we know there's a lot of French here, two teams want to play positive open rugby, make the most of the opposition mistakes,” Townsend said.
“So, probably a team that limits their errors is going to come out on top.”

He added: "The signs were there that we were together, we resilient, we finding solutions and we saw that in Cardiff and obviously the England game was a different game because we were ahead but that was positive to see that we not just held our lead but we grew in that second half as well.
"We have to make them uncomfortable, they've been getting, not away with things, but they've been able to play and get offloads away and we can't give them any chinks in our defence.
"We've got to make sure that we are switched on on both sides of the field because they can switch play pretty quickly.
"We can't give them any loose ball to attack off because they are the best in the world in those situations, but that's more thinking about our defense.
"Our attack has to really go at them and we did that last year over in Paris and we had a lot of opportunities against them and that was created through hard work and really good work in contact and getting some of our very good attackers on the ball and that's always our plan and we just have to deliver that today."
10 to go
14:00 , Alex DakersKick-off is fast approaching, with just 10 minutes to go until we get underway at Murrayfield.
Stick with us for all the latest updates!
Quick - and fiery - start expected?
13:55 , Alex DakersScotland had a few too many early errors against Wales last time out, slipping to a worrying deficit at half-time.
They can’t afford to do the same against France, who have been putting their games to bed quickly.
Les Bleus have scored 18 tries - including in minutes one, three, 10, 12 and 14 - already in this tournament, having notched a Six Nations record of 30 last year.
This has also been a pretty testy game in recent years, with a fair few red cards...
Russell warming up
13:50 , Alex DakersFinn Russell has been out warming up on the pitch at Murrayfield.
His performance, you’d imagine, will be key if Scotland are to get anything from this game.

Scotland vs France previous results
13:45 , Alex Dakers2020 was the first and only time in Six Nations history that Scotland have won three successive games in the same tournament.
Will that change today?
They beat France 28-17 in that tournament, almost six years ago to the day, and won 27-23 in Paris the following year, but haven’t emerged victorious against Les Bleus in the Six Nations since then.
The French won 35-16 in Paris last time, but the previous year Scotland were only denied victory at Murrayfield by an inconclusive last-gasp try review, ultimately losing 20-16.
Six Nations results
2025: 35-16, France home win
2024: 20-16, France away win
2023: 32-21, France home win
2022: 36-17, France away win
2021: 27-23, Scotland away win
2020: 28-17, Scotland home win
2019: 27-10, France home win
Countdown to kick-off
13:40 , Alex DakersHalf an hour to go!
France could win title today - are Scotland still in it?
13:30 , Alex DakersSuch has been the dominance of France so far in this tournament, as we’ve been discussing this afternoon, Les Bleus could actually clinch their Six Nations title defence today.
Given how the table stands, with them being the only unbeaten team remaining, a bonus-point victory for the French at Murrayfield would put the title out of everyone else’s reach.
Scotland, of course, will be desperate not to let that happen.
Indeed, they could still win a first-ever Six Nations title for themselves if results go their way over these final matches - namely, a win and likely a bonus point today, plus beating Ireland next week while hoping England do them a favour against France.
Plenty of permutations!

Italy host England later today, followed by this slate of final round fixtures next Saturday, March 14:
Ireland vs Scotland (2:10pm, Aviva Stadium, ITV1)
Wales vs Italy (4:40pm, Principality Stadium, BBC One)
France vs England (8:10pm, Stade de France, ITV1)
Best pubs and bars to watch the Six Nations in London
13:25 , Alex DakersThe Six Nations is one of European sport’s biggest showcases and the 2026 tournament hasn’t let us down so far.
Games have been hard-fought and uncertain and although France are keen favourites, there have been upsets galore.
Venues across London will be packing out from the first whistle, so The Standard has taken a look at some of the top pubs, bars and community spaces to watch the games.
We’ve noted the best to watch Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales specifically.

In pictures: Murrayfield awaits
13:20 , Alex DakersFans - and a band - have, of course, been arriving at Murrayfield too over the last little while.

Here come Les Bleus
13:15 , Alex DakersAnd here comes the French, led by dapper duo of captain Antoine Dupont and head coach Fabien Galthie.

Countdown to kick-off
13:10 , Alex DakersOne hour to go until the action begins at Murrayfield!
Scots arriving
13:05 , Alex DakersThe Scottish team have arrived at Murrayfield, led by skipper Sione Tuipulotu.

Slight smiles on a few faces, including Gregor Townsend’s.
Quiet confidence from being back at home, despite the big test awaiting them?

2026 Six Nations standings so far
12:55 , Alex DakersWill all of that in mind, plus the news of an Irish bonus-point victory over an improving Wales in Dublin yesterday, here’s a look at how the 2026 Six Nations table currently stands:

England take on Italy in Rome later this afternoon, another match Standard Sport will provide full live coverage of.
How did France get here?
12:46 , Alex DakersFrance, the Six Nations holders, faced what was expected to be their biggest test of this year’s tournament on matchday one.
But ultimately, Les Bleus made light work of title rivals Ireland in Paris, emerging 36-14 winners.

Next up was a trip to Cardiff, where Fabien Galthie’s men swept Wales aside 54-12, before returning home to beat Italy 33-8 last time out.

All of that means the dream of a Grand Slam (a first since 2022), on top of repeating as champions, is very much alive for the French, who are the only unbeaten side remaining.

How did Scotland get here?
12:40 , Alex DakersScotland, who came a disappointing fourth at last year’s tournament, got off on the wrong foot last month when Italy - one of their two wins last time - beat them 18-15 in Rome.

There was to be no such woe the following weekend, though, as Gregor Townsend and co battered England 31-12 at Murrayfield to regain the Calcutta Cup.

Before the fallow week, the Scots travelled to Cardiff and looked set for a crushing defeat against winless Wales before mounting a second half comeback to win 26-23 and keep their Triple Crown hopes alive (they play Ireland next weekend).

Three very different outings so far for Scotland, then, but only the very best version of Townsend’s side will stand a chance of beating Les Bleus in Edinburgh this afternoon.
Scotland vs France match odds
12:32 , Alex DakersScotland to win: 7/2
France to win: 2/9
Draw: 22/1
Odds via Betfair (subject to change).
Head to head (h2h) history and results
12:25 , Alex DakersFrance have won five of their last six meetings with Scotland, last losing to them in the Six Nations in 2021.
Will that change today?
Scotland wins: 40
France wins: 61
Draws: 3
Standard Sport prediction
12:17 , Alex DakersFrance’s reported injury worries left Scotland with a brief glimmer of hope ahead of this match.
But with Fabien Galthie’s squad near enough at full strength, Gregor Townsend finds himself facing a considerable test.
Scotland have shone at points of this tournament and flattered to deceive at others, but the margin for error against this France side will be nil.
Denying the dominant Les Bleus their Grand Slam may prove too tall an order.
France to win, by 15 points.
France team news
12:09 , Alex DakersFor France, Matthieu Jalibert is back at fly-half as Thomas Ramos reverts to full-back and Theo Attissogbe to the wing, with Gael Drean making way after his debut against Italy.
First-choice centres Yoram Moefana and Nicolas Depoortere have recovered from knee and calf injuries respectively, so return in place of Emilien Gailleton and Fabien Brau-Boirie.
Charles Ollivon and Mickael Guillard replace Thibaud Flament and Emmanuel Meafou in the second row. Demba Bamba comes on to the bench.

France XV: Ramos; Attissogbe, Depoortere, Moefana, Bielle-Biarrey; Jalibert, Dupont (c); Gros, Marchand, Aldegheri; Ollivon, Guillard; Cros, Jegou, Jelonch
Replacements: Mauvaka, Neti, Bamba, Flament, Meafou, Nouchi, Serin, Barassi
Scotland team news
12:01 , Alex DakersGregor Townsend makes five changes to the Scotland team that snuck by Wales in Cardiff, with Jack Dempsey returning to the back row following a quick recovery from a bicep injury.

There is an entirely new front row as Pierre Schoeman and D'Arcy Rae replace Nathan McBeth and Zander Fagerson at prop, with George Turner in for Dave Cherry at hooker.
Gregor Brown is switched from the back row to lock as Max Williamson makes way.
In the backs, Darcy Graham replaces Duhan van der Merwe on the wing. Ewan Ashman is back on the bench after injury, while there is also a place in the squad for young Edinburgh star Freddy Douglas.
Scotland XV: Kinghorn; Graham, Jones, Tuipulotu (c), Steyn; Russell, White; Schoeman, Turner, Rae; Brown, Cummings; M Fagerson, Darge, Dempsey

Six Nations LIVE: Scotland vs France
11:40 , Alex DakersHello and welcome to Standard Sport’s live coverage of Scotland vs France.
Round four of the 2026 Six Nations continues today with a huge match at Murrayfield.
Fabien Galthie’s defending champions are unbeaten thus far, brushing aside Ireland, Wales and Italy prior to the fallow week as they eye a Grand Slam.

Gregor Townsend’s Scots got off to a bitterly slow start this year, falling to Italy in the pouring Roman rain, but bounced back with a stunning victory against England at home before piecing together a comeback win over Wales in Cardiff last time out.

Ireland beat the Welsh yesterday to move ahead of Scotland in the table, but ahead of round four it was these two sides who occupied the top spots.
Can the hosts use the Edinburgh crowd to their advantage and spoil Les Bleus’ party? Or will France maintain their 100% record?
