Scotland have reportedly been handpicked by France for an October glamour friendly.
Steve Clarke and his side got off to a dream start to Euro 2024 qualifying in March, seeing off Cyprus and stunning Spain without conceding a goal to take command of Group A. There is plenty of work to be done yet though and a big year awaits, with Norway and Georgia clashes to look forward to in June before a trip to Cyprus and a huge 150th anniversary match with England in September.
After that the Tartan Army travel to Spain in September with John McGinn, Andy Robertson and co. hoping to shock the Spaniards once again and by that point, qualification could be within our sights if things continue to go to plan. But after that showdown on October 12, the Scots have a free slot for a friendly and will be looking to fill their diaries.
Clarke has insisted he wants his team to face off with the world's best as often as possible and it seems he will get his wish. The Daily Mail report that France, who also have a free slot after facing the Netherlands on October 13. And it's claimed they have hand-chosen Scotland as their opponents for a glamour friendly which is pencilled in for Monday, October 16.
It's claimed an agreement is yet to be signed and a venue is yet to be agreed but it suits both teams' calendars and would see Clarke put his side up against three teams currently in the FIFA top 10 within the space of a month. It's a big test but one he'll be relishing as he bids to take his side to the next level.
