The search for Scotland's Home of The Year continued this week as the judging panel examined three stunning properties in the central region.
Anna Campbell Jones, Banjo Beale, and Michael Angus travelled through Bridge of Allan, Auchterarder, and Dunblane to pick their favourite home. The trio start in Bridge of Allan and a unique new build called Skinny House, home to Austin and his partner Hayley.
Formerly a spot of waste ground only four and a half meters wide, Skinny House was designed by Austin’s architect dad. Boasting two external courtyards, this elongated home is compact with excellent views of the surrounding area.
The Skinny House impressed judges and scored an acceptable 26 points. Next up, the judging panel visited The Old Manse in Auchterarder, Perthshire. Dating from the 19th Century, it’s a beautiful, sandstone period property which is home to Kelly, Michel and their three children.
Upon viewing it for the first time, Kelly instantly fell in love with the house but Michel was looking for something more modern which didn’t require renovating.
Undeterred by the challenge, Kelly lovingly restored the period property with an interior inspired by British textile designer William Morris. The five bedroomed home has three bathrooms, a stunning garden and a snug come cinema room.
The Old Manse seriously impressed the judging panel with it's unique features and stunning décor, as it received the perfect score of 30.
The final contender in the Central category is Daisy Cottage in Dunblane. The cute and picture perfect traditional cottage dated from 1784, and is home to Laura, David and their three cats Beebee, Belle and Patchy.
Daisy Cottage has been in Laura’s family for decades and embraces ‘one level’ living as her father was disabled. The house is accessible for all and included a library come study, a terraced back garden, and a little art gallery.
In the end, Daisy Cottage scored 24 points after failing to impress Anna, Banjo, and Michael and missed out on getting through to the SHOTY finale. As the highest scoring property, The Old Manse has secured its place in the next round as fans reacted to the news on social media.
Viewers took to Twitter and shared their thoughts on this weeks episode. One said: "Daisy Cottage was the BEST so far in this series. Manse was the worst this week (although still better than any last week). I really don't get what the judges are looking at."
A second added: "Daisy Cottage was robbed! #shoty," while a third penned: "What are they on? It's an Insta house, not a home. #SHOTY."
