Energy regulator Ofgem announced in February a 54% rise in the price cap which could see average users on a standard energy tariff see their annual bills soar by £693 to £1,971 from April 1.
As a result, millions of households will find balancing their family budgets more difficult in April as they contend with a raft of increases to household bills.
The massive rise, brought about by soaring prices in the energy wholesale market, meaning that families will have to find an average £693 extra a year, or more if you use more energy than average.
