Caroline Weir has been shortlisted for the prestigious Ballon d'Or for the second successive season.
The Scotland internationalist swapped Real Madrid for Lyon this summer, with her 20 goals across all competitions last season for the Spaniards responsible for her inclusion on the illustrious list.
Reflecting on her nomination, Weir told the SFA: “It’s always an honour to be recognised alongside such world-class players, including current and former club team-mates. I’m proud to have been able to add to last year’s nomination and represent Scotland again at this year’s event.
“I know I wouldn’t be in this position without the players and staff that I am fortunate enough to work with every day. I’m incredibly grateful and looking forward to our next challenge this Autumn.”
SWNT Head Coach Melissa Andreatta praised the midfielder’s consistency, leadership, and elite professionalism. “We are all absolutely thrilled for Caroline," said the Australian.

"To reach the very top of the global game is one thing, but to maintain that level of performance year after year is what sets the truly world-class players apart.
"Caroline sets the benchmark for professionalism every time she steps onto the pitch. She leads by example as our captain and is a fantastic role model for young girls and boys across Scotland.
"This nomination is thoroughly deserved, and we couldn't be prouder."
The award is celebrating its 70th anniversary, having been created by France Football in 1956, and the winner will be announced at an ceremony in London on 26 October.
The "symbolic choice of venue" is in tribute to former England player Sir Stanley Matthews, who won the first Ballon d'Or.
