A Scot has snapped a photo of the "world's shortest street". Ann Sinclair shared the incredible pic of the street in the north of the country.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, Ebenezer Place in Wick has held the record since 2006. The town is in the historic county of Caithness in the extreme north of Scotland.
Ebenezer Place measures just six feet nine inches (2.05m), barely over the average height of a human male. It is home to only a single address, No.1 Bistro, which is part of the Mackays Hotel that also has entrances on the nearby Union Street and River Street.
The street dates back to 1883, when its only building was constructed. A few years later, in 1887, Ebenezer Place was officially declared a street and the rest is history.
Ann, who spotted the incredible street, took to Facebook to share a photo with others. Alongside the pic, she wrote: "A photo of the shortest street in the world...Ebenezer Place!"
Before long, the post had received hundreds of likes and dozens of comments. Facebook users were keen to share their thoughts on the historic street.
One shared: "I had a walk along that street last year, had to stop for a pint in the middle though."
"As a postie, I wish all streets I deliver to were as small as Ebenezer Place," joked a second.
Ebenezer Place is even a Wick tourist attraction, with many visitors taking to travel website TripAdvisor to share reviews of the one-of-a-kind street. It currently has an average rating of 4/5 based on nine reviews.
One review reads: "Didn’t even realise we had witnessed a world record until reading these reviews. I just remember getting frustrated that we couldn’t find the place we were looking for… but there it was, straight in front of us all the time."
A second visitor wrote: "It is what it is. We went looking for this place and walked straight past it into Union Street.
"At 2.09m long it’s no wonder we missed it. Not often we get to see a world record."
