A Scot sent Facebook threats warning he’d have gangster pals “put a bullet in the heid” of a man during their feud.
William Amos sent messages over social media telling James Goldie he knew a “big boy in Glasgow” while they were locked in a dispute.
But the 28-year-old landed himself in court after the intimidating voice recordings and messages were passed to cops.
Amos appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday. He admitted sending electronic messages which were grossly offensive, or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, by repeatedly uttering threats of violence.
Fiscal depute Drew Long said James was a relative of one of Amos’s neighbours when he lived in the city’s Burdiehouse area.
Mr Long said the pair became involved in a row and Amos sent James voice and typed messages over Facebook.
The prosecutor said: “In messages he sent, Amos said words to the effect of, “All I would have to do is phone the big boy in Glasgow and he’ll go right through you. These are f***ing gangsters. There are c***s who would put a bullet in the heid.”
Mr Long said Amos sent around 45 messages to James, a “great deal of which were in the same sort of vein”.
Defence agent Mark Hutchison said “a great deal of these messages were not in that vein at all”.
Mr Hutchison said his client had contacted police over threatening messages which had been sent to him.
The solicitor said Amos repeatedly asked James to stay away from him during their feud and was “upset” by the matter.
The court was told unemployed Amos moved to Falkirk in the wake of the incident, which took place on May 6 2020.
Sheriff John Cook told Amos: “Whatever the precise complexities, you should not have sent the messages you did.”
The sheriff fined him £290.
