Scot Gardiner has resigned as chief executive of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
It follows on just days after chairman Ross Morrison stood down following severe backlash from supporters about the board's decision to move the club's training base to Fife.
Yesterday, that call - to book out Kelty Hearts' ground 135 miles away from Inverness - was reversed, with training to stay local in the Highlands.
However, in a statement by the board of directors, it was announced that a 'suitably qualified insolvency practitioner' has been consulted amid the prospect of the club going into administration should talks with new investors fall through.
Amid all of this, Gardiner - an unpopular figure among supporters of Caley Thistle - has made the decision to quit his post as chief exec, however, will see out his notice period.
Board member Graeme Bennett told the Inverness Courier: "Listen, Scot has had a fair bit of grief and stress through the relegation process but we need to stick together and find a way out of this – everybody has to pull together for the sake of the club.
“Scot Gardiner has resigned but I have asked to help us out and he was good today at a meeting of the staff, he is working his notice and doing everything he can for Caley Thistle.”
Wednesday's statement reads in full: "The Board of Directors are in discussions with potential new investors into the club and remain hopeful of finding a new investor or new owners.
"However, in the circumstances we currently find ourselves in following the loss of the Statkraft contract at Caledonian Stadium which was worth 7 figures to the club and given the new financial position of the club, it is also prudent to approach a suitably qualified insolvency practitioner to advise on how we may proceed should our efforts to find new investment fall short.
"For clarity, on the football front, we have decided to remain training at Fort George for the foreseeable future."
Inverness were relegated from the Championship to League 1 last season after their play-off final defeat to Hamilton Accies.
