With a new tour scheduled for next year, Scissor Sisters have formally ended their indefinite break in honour of the band's 20th anniversary.
Three of the band's founding members –Jake Shears, Babydaddy, and Del Marquis – are reuniting the group for a 2025 UK arena tour, it was announced this morning (October 31).
Unfortunately, founding member Ana Matronic has decided to focus on other endeavours and will not be participating in the reunion.
The announcement was made 12 years after the band's fourth album, Magic Hour, which featured the singles Only The Horses and Let's Have A Kiki.
Part of the reason for the reunion is to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their debut album of the same name. They will perform in stadia across the nation next year, including in London, Cardiff and Manchester.
In a press release, Shears shared that the tour was inspired by a lockdown screening of their 2007 concert film Scissor Sisters: Live at the O2. He said:
“It’s the 20th anniversary of our debut album, so it really feels like the right time to revisit all the intense excitement of that moment.
“I don’t think I’d seen that show since it was filmed in 2007, but we were all kind of surprised by how great it was. And chatting with fans during the screening really brought back what a special moment it was for all of us.”
