(Picture: PA Archive)The number of teenagers taking English literature A-levels has dropped dramatically because Government reforms have made the subject a “grind”, a schools leader has warned.
Students are being put off because they have to learn by heart chunks of “traditional” books, according to Geoff Barton, head of the Association of School and College Leaders, as he called for urgent action to stop the “spiral of decline”.
