Schools in Leeds turn down girl who is 'desperate for friends'

A 10-year-old autistic girl who is "full of life" and desperately wants to make friends has been left feeling isolated after being turned down by every school in the area where she lives. Leyla Gallagher has been out of school since last summer.

The little girl, from Horsforth, lives with Autism, ADHD and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Because of this, she struggles in mainstream schools due to the extreme anxiety she experiences following everyday demands.

Leyla's Mum Daniella, 39, says every education provider in Leeds has said it 'can't meet Leyla's needs', leaving her stuck at home, isolated and feeling different, reports LeedsLive.
