Schools resorted to buying some pupils alarm clocks to get them into the classroom after the covid lockdown.
A study into poor attendance following the national lockdowns found many pupils no longer felt getting to school was important, according to education watchdog Ofsted.
In a report published on Monday, Ofsted said that, in secondary schools in particular, “it appears that the provision of remote education during national lockdowns has negatively affected some pupils’ perceptions of the need to be in school”.
