Schoolgirl rushed to Glasgow hospital after being hit by car outside city primary

A schoolgirl has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car outside a Glasgow school.

Police were called to reports of a 12-year-old girl having been struck by a car outside Hillhead Primary around 1:30pm this afternoon.

Following the arrival of ambulance crews, the girl was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children.

Gibson Street was closed for around one hour while officers conducted their enquiries.

Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police received a report of a 12-year-old girl having been struck by a car on Gibson Street in Glasgow around 1.30pm on Thursday, 24 March, 2022.

“The girl has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and the road was re-opened around 2.30pm."
