Schoolchildren forced to apologise after damaging car park in Kirkby Town Centre

Children were forced to apologise to a security guard by police after wrecking a car park.

Officers said they detained two children after they removed a barrier from a car park on Thursday night in Kirkby. Police made the schoolchildren apologise to the security guard and were taken to their parents.

A group of children were also reportedly responsible for theft, criminal damage and assault within Kirkby town centre over the previous few days. An investigation is underway, with several of those involved being identified already, police said.

Police were also called to a report of burglary at a premises within the town centre on Wednesday, where officers arrested three boys, aged 14 and 13, on suspicion of burglary. They have since been released on bail while the investigation is ongoing.
