Schoolboy on bike 'seriously injured' after crash with taxi

A teenage boy has suffered serious leg injuries after being hit by a taxi.

Merseyside Police confirmed that around 3pm on November 16, they received reports of a crash involving a taxi and a 15-year-old cyclist on St Chad's Drive in Kirkby. The driver of the vehicle, which is described as a black Hackney taxi, left the scene after the incident.

The teenage cyclist was rushed to hospital with serious injuries to his leg but is said to be in a stable condition. Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses following the incident.

Inspector Gavin Dixon said: "We are keen to trace the driver of the vehicle to assist our enquiries and would also ask anyone who witnessed the incident to please get in touch. Likewise, if you have any dashcam footage or CCTV footage from the surrounding area or on St Chad's Drive that may help us identify the vehicle involved, please let us know."

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision and anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information or dash camera footage is asked to contact Police.
