Schoolboy, 7, gives up weekends to read stories to care home residents

A kind-hearted schoolboy regularly gives up his weekends and school holidays to read stories to elderly care home residents. Oliver Addison first asked to read to the residents after attending their summer fair earlier this year.

The seven-year-old enlisted his parents Ian and Charlie Addison, 37, to set up the rendezvous before eagerly raiding his book shelf for his favourite picture books. In heart-warming pictures, Oliver can be seen sitting in a huge armchair armed with a book as his delighted audience at Wellington Vale care home in Waterlooville, Hampshire, listen intently.

So far, the bright year three pupil has read The Storm Whale by Benji Davies and several picture books by David Litchfield and Yuval Zommer. According to dad Ian, 40, Oliver's story time has now become so popular that residents have even requested to move floors so they can listen in on his next visit.
