Calling all gronks, eshays and outsiders! More details on Heartbreak High Season Two have been spilled and I’m sooo geeked out to meet the two new characters who are about shake things up.
ICYMI: in October 2022, Netflix announced that Heartbreak High would be returning after its eetswa first season. Production of Season Two is already chugging along, BUT we’ve caught some major tea about the plot and two new characters who are truly gonna fuck shit up at Hartley High, AKA Australia’s best grammar school.
LOL, kidding, maybe Australia’s most unhinged school? Who knows.
On Friday, Netflix ANZ dropped an IG reel revealing two of Hartley High’s freshest faces: Rowan Callaghan, played by Sam Rechner, and Zoe Clarke, played by Kartanya Maynard.
OG cast members were also in the reel, where they shared some ‘yuge reactions in regards to the plot of Season Two. I’m just itching to know what the writers are crafting up!
Here’s everything we know so far about Season Two of Heartbreak High.
Who’s in the cast?
As mentioned previously, Heartbreak High will be copping two new characters, Rowan and Zoe.
According to Netflix, Rowan is “an unassuming country boy with a dry wit and a passion for classic cinema who finds himself thrown headfirst into the chaos of Hartley High and a truly epic love triangle.”
Netflix also shared some details about Zoe, noting she’s a “celibacy advocate along with her gang of Puriteens” and this little gang is gonna mess with our fave Sexual Literacy Tutorials (SLTs) class.
UMMM, another triangle situationship and Puriteens???? Oh, I’m getting my hot chippies ready for this fkn season.
Prior to joining the Heartbreak High cast, Rechner (our country boy) had a breakout role in Steven Spielberg‘s biographical film The Fabelmans.
Maynard (Empress of the Puriteens) is a Trawlwoolway woman of Nipaluna/Hobart in Utruwita/Tasmania, and has starred in Deadloch, The Messenger, and Gold Diggers.
Season One castmates who will be returning include Ayesha Madon (Amerie), Asher Yasbincek (Harper), Chloé Hayden (Quinni), James Majoos (Darren), Chika Ikogwe (SLTs Teacher Jojo Obah), Thomas Weatherall (Malakai), Will McDonald (Ca$h), Joshua Heuston (Dusty), Gemma Chua-Tran (Sasha), Sherry-Lee Watson (Missy), Bryn Chapman-Parish (Spider) and Rachel House (Principal Woodsy).
What’s the plot babes?
According to the ‘yuge tea spill on Friday, Hayden said: “If I was a viewer of this show and I watched this particular thing happen, that’s going to happen, I would lose my mind.”
So, we can expect a huge twist.
Netflix also said that “threesomes, chlamydia and burning cars a distant memory” for our Hartley High students, but as a certified hater I still have some sketchy thoughts about some of the characters from Season One.
To quickly recap Heartbreak High‘s first season, it follows the lives of Amerie, her former BFF Harper and their peers after a “sex map” detailing all of their risqué escapades is discovered by staff.
The series ended with fans finally learning WTF caused that epic bust-up between Amerie and Harper. Meanwhile, their Sexual Literacy Tutorials (SLTs) teacher Jojo returned to Hartley High after her pupils protested her sacking.
Is there a trailer for Season Two?
Nope. But production is currently under way, so expect to see some snippets or sneak peeks in the coming months.
When will it air?
Netflix hasn’t specified a date yet, but we know that’ll come sometime in 2024.
