Students and parents across several parts of India are checking whether schools will remain shut on Tuesday, September 1, as heavy rain and adverse weather conditions continue in multiple regions. Odisha, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and parts of Northeast India are among the areas experiencing rainfall activity and weather alerts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in several states, with East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand among the areas facing a significant risk of intense rain. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected across parts of north and central India.
