The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of eastern India, the Himalayan region and Northeast India. Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand are expected to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, while Odisha and Chhattisgarh are also under a significant rainfall threat. The IMD has warned of isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Odisha on August 30 and 31, and over Chhattisgarh on August 31.
