The southwest monsoon continues to remain active across several parts of India, prompting students and parents to check if schools will be closed on Monday, August 24, 2026. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected in several states, while isolated areas of Odisha may experience heavy to very heavy rain. Rainfall is also likely in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, the Northeast and southern India.
However, no official school holiday has been announced for August 24 so far. Weather-related school closures are usually announced by state governments, district administrations or individual schools depending on local conditions, including flooding, waterlogging, landslides and difficulties in travelling safely.
