Schmidt cites England 'gamesmanship' but has no excuses

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt has been left hugely impressed by his English conquerors at Twickenham -- but sounded deeply unimpressed by what he dismissed as their pre-match "gamesmanship".

Schmidt had no complaints about his side's 25-7 drubbing from what he called a "very, very good" England outfit, while his disappointment in one of the most lacklustre performances by any of his Wallabies' sides was offset by his pride that they never gave up.

But the New Zealander had clearly been stung by a British newspaper report in the pre-match build-up that England coach Steve Borthwick had complained to match referee Nika Amashukeli over Australian "illegal" and "dangerous" clearouts from the side of the ruck.
