Scenes at Aldi as Prime Hydration energy drink 'sells out in minutes' across Bristol

There were scenes at every Aldi store in Bristol this morning as fans of YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul queued before the doors opened to get their hands on the pair’s Prime Hydration drink.

Queues formed outside stores across the country and the drinks were sold out within minutes in most, as fans of the social media influencers snapped up the energy drinks. At the Aldi store on North Street in Ashton Gate, a large group of fans were waiting when the doors opened at 8am, and the limited edition bottles were all gone within a few minutes, workers at the store said.

The drink has been released in limited batches, most recently at Asda stores, with some bottles being sold on eBay for thousands of pounds. Released back in the summer, the drink is available in seven different flavours, but Aldi were selling Blue Raspberry, Lemon and Lime and Ice Pop flavours, with customers limited one flavour per customer, meaning that each customer was limited to buying three bottles each.

The bottles were for sale in the stores for £1.99 an item, and Aldi said they were unsure when they were going to get more in stock. “The viral hydration drink created by two popular YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul, is available to buy for just £1.99 in Aldi stores nationwide on 29th December. The drink will be a Specialbuy – and as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone!” a spokesperson said before the doors opened.

“The supermarket is expecting high demand so a purchase limit of one of each variant per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy the product.

“The drink, which is 10 per cent coconut water, contains electrolytes and B vitamins and BCAAs, has zero sugar and around 20 calories per bottle. Aldi shoppers can choose from three different flavours: Blue Raspberry, Lemon and Lime, and Ice Pop,” they added.

One of the people in the queue later tweeted that he managed to get four bottles, and they sold out at the store in Bristol he went to by 8.02am because ‘everyone ran’.

Another Aldi shopper shared a photo of people queuing outside the Imperial Park branch in Bristol, commenting on Bristol Live's Facebook page: "Sold out by 8.15am."

After concluding their boxing rivalry in 2019, KSI and Logan Paul created Prime Hydration (Scottish Sun)

Also commenting on Facebook, one mum said: "I thought I was bad going at 9 in the morning to see if I could grab one for my 16 year old couldn't believe I was doing it - only to find that they had all been sold before 8am and was told that there were queues early morning."

In scenes elsewhere in the country, @markbenhall in Peterborough tweeted footage of what he described as 'absolute carnage' with a mad scramble for the bottles, while other Aldi stores were praised for controlling the crowds by stocking the drinks by the self-checkout tills, so staff could keep order and filter the people trying to get to them.
