Emily Andre has revealed that she feels 'scared' putting herself out there ahead of a major new project.
The 33-year-old NHS doctor is set to release a brand-new book next month in a bid to help teenagers and children who are going through puberty.
Her book, which is called Growing Up For Boys: Everything You Need To Know, is set for release in May, and ahead of the launch, Emily has admitted that she's feeling quite nervous about her new venture.
The star has already penned a book for young girls who are going through puberty, but she felt it important to do the same for boys because they also can have an incredibly tough time throughout the life-changing period in their young lives.
Writing in her latest OK! Magazine column, Emily shared: "The response to the girls’ book was incredible, and I was so happy.
"It can feel quite scary putting yourself out there and opening yourself up to criticism.
"I was worried about what would happen if people didn’t like the book, or didn’t get it.
"A lot of it is taken from my own experience of being a teenager, so it felt like quite a big risk to put that out there. But I couldn’t have hoped for a better response, so I’m crossing my fingers it’s the same with the boys’ book."
While Emily was writing and researching for her new book, she realised that she needed a male perspective on matters.
And so, she called in the help of her husband, Peter, 47, who shared some insight into his own puberty journey back in the day.
Emily shared: "I realised it was important to get a male outlook, so one of the people who helped me was Pete.
"He gave me some perspective on what growing up was like for him. Even things like shaving and knowing when you’re ready to start were so helpful.
"I hope the book will help guide a conversation, or be a conversation starter, so boys can ask about things they may be worried about.
"As well as the physical side, we also touch on psychological changes and encourage boys to speak out if they are struggling with their emotions or mental health."
Emily's brand-new book is set for release next month.
