Helpful Jahveen Martin was a courier who collected old bank cards from pensioners for recycling. The only trouble was that he and fellow scammers then went off to Weston-super-Mare and used them to withdraw £850 from the victims' accounts, a court heard.
Martin, 22, of Canonbury Road in Islington, London, pleaded guilty to fraud and three charges of possessing articles for use in fraud. He appeared at Bristol Crown Court for sentence.
The recorder Mr Harris handed him a community order comprising of 100 hours' unpaid work and a £100 fine. The judge told Martin: "It is suggested you were young, naive and stupid at the time. You take full responsibility, you are appalled and disgusted by the role that you played."
