Scammers are cloning real car dealership websites and copying the details that make a legitimate business look legitimate. That can include logos, vehicle photos, inventory listings, addresses, and even customer testimonials.
The Federal Trade Commission warned consumers about this scheme in September 2026. Some fake sites even use artificial intelligence to copy real dealerships with striking accuracy. A polished website no longer proves that the seller behind it exists.
