State Bank of India (SBI) customers will not face any disruptions in banking services on May 25 and 26, 2026, as the proposed two-day strike by the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation (AISBISF) has been deferred.
Will employees in SBI branches work on May 25 and May 26?
SBI issued a customer advisory confirming that all its branches across the country will function normally and continue to provide regular banking services on May 25 and May 26, 2026.
In a social media message posted on X (formerly Twitter), SBI said, “The proposed strike by the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation (AISBISF) on May 25 and 26, 2026, has been deferred. All our branches will function normally and provide all regular banking services.”
Why have SBI workers called for a strike on May 23-24?
The federation had announced the protest to press for several employee-related demands. One of the key concerns raised by the union was the shortage of armed guards at SBI branches. According to the federation, retirements and promotions have reduced the number of security personnel, increasing risks for employees, customers and bank assets.
The strike had earlier raised concerns among customers as it was expected to affect branch operations after weekend holidays. SBI had also advised customers to use ATMs, internet banking, YONO, mobile banking, UPI and other digital channels in case branch services were impacted.
