It’s one of South Ayrshire’s hotly anticipated summer events and organisers of Dunure Festival of the Sea are telling festival goers to ‘save the date’.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the village harbour, Dunure Festival of the Sea is an all-day celebration of all things music and seafood.
This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, August 19, with organisers gearing up for another successful year of keeping the village’s maritime history alive.
Gav White, one of the volunteers who helps organise the event, said: “What we’re trying to do is raise money for our harbour charity to keep the harbour in good nick because without funds these old things fall away into disrepair.
“It is such a lovely bit, for South Ayrshire in particular, but for ourselves round the coast we just want to keep it functional, working and all the rest of it.
“We do this every year as a fundraiser for it and this year we’ve got it down for Saturday, August 19.”
Gav said Dunure’s stunning harbourfront location “speaks for itself” as hundreds of locals and visitors flock to enjoy a fabulous line up of live music and local food and drink.
Previous years have seen acoustic sets, open mic, children’s entertainment, pizza, burgers and lobster rolls.
Gav added: “We’re a whole bunch of volunteers who do these things in our spare time for a bit fun.
“We just put on some nice music and food around about and to be fair the location speaks for itself, the rest is easy. We’re 90 per cent there with the bands, and 50 per cent there with catering.”
Ayrshire rock band Badstone are one of the first bands to confirm they will play this year’s festival. A list of bands, entertainment, and catering is yet to be announced.
