Savannah Guthrie is reportedly taking a "brief hiatus" from the Today show to spend time with her family.

The 54-year-old TV presenter missed two days of the morning show this week - on Wednesday (08.07.26) and Thursday (09.07.26) - and her unexplained absence sparked speculation she had stepped away from the show to deal with revelations relating to the case of her missing mother Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her home in Arizona earlier this year.

However, TMZ reports Savannah's absence from the show "has nothing to do with the investigation into the Nancy Guthrie abduction" and she is just taking a few days off to " spend time with her family".

New York Post column PageSix shared a similar report, concluding Savannah is "on a brief hiatus" from work and is taking the break to enjoy some time off with her loved ones.

The news comes as officials continue to investigate Nancy's disappearance and Savannah admitted the family is experiencing "unending trauma" as they search for answers.

Nancy went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of 1 February and the 54-year-old presenter issued a new statement this week revealing how the family has been coping with over the last few months.

She told KOLDNews 13 in a statement: “It is five months of agony and unending trauma for our family. There is not a moment that goes by that we aren't actively trying to find our mom."

Savannah went on to issue thanks to Savannah thanked "the people of Tucson for holding her in their hearts, as well as both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Office for their tireless work on behalf of our family."

She concluded: "Bring her home."

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed to the Arizona news outlet that the investigation into Nancy's disappearance remains active.

He said: “Especially when you throw in genealogy - now, you've got ... this may not be the bad guy, but this person might be the bad guy's relative three times over. So, that has to be broken down to see if this might be someone of interest to us."
