Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, stressed on Tuesday that the Hajj pilgrimage, which concluded earlier this week, was held smoothly and without incident.
No diseases were detected during the pilgrimage, he said during a cable he sent to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz to congratulate him on the advent of the Eid al-Adha holiday.
He said the success can be attributed to the Saudi leadership’s direct support and wise directives.
All concerned parties succeeded in carrying out their security, services, health and protocol duties to welcome a million pilgrims and provide them with the highest-quality services, added the minister.
Moreover, Prince Abdulaziz said the Supreme Hajj Committee, which was formed at the directive of King Salman and is headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, had the task of following up on challenges that the Hajj and Umrah Ministry may encounter.
The committee played a major role in overcoming obstacles and supporting the sectors involved in the Hajj and Umrah, allowing them to complete the preparations for this year’s holy pilgrimage in spite of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, he remarked.
Prince Abdulaziz noted that security, health, services and organizational plans were executed with high professionalism by the security forces, government agencies and other personnel, in line with the Saudi leadership’s directives.
Furthermore, he praised Crown Prince Mohammed’s direct and unlimited support to all sectors operating at the Hajj, saying it helped overcome obstacles so that the pilgrimage could be organized smoothly.
