The Saudi government praised on Tuesday the Kingdom for offering over a billion riyals in support to Afghanistan throughout the decades.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Jeddah.

Saudi Arabia last week offered a grant of 30 million dollars to support the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund, as an extension of its relief efforts towards the country that have topped a billion riyals over the decades.

The Kingdom has offered relief bridges to Afghanistan in recent months and supported it with various development projects.

At the beginning of the meeting, King Salman expressed his gratitude to God almighty for helping the Kingdom overcome the coronavirus pandemic, which led to the announcement this week of the lifting of all restrictions related to the disease in the country.

The cabinet approved tasking the minister of energy or his representative to hold talks with Jordan over a draft cooperation agreement in the energy fields between the kingdoms.

It also approved a memorandum of understanding signed between Saudi Arabia and Iraq over linking their power networks and a cooperation agreement between Saudi Arabia and Greece in maritime transportation.
