Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has detained several gym trainers of Arab nationalities for selling and promoting unregistered weight loss medications, hormonal drugs and peptide substances, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency.
The action was carried out in coordination with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and other relevant agencies after monitoring social media for regulatory violations. Investigations led to a sting operation that traced the supply chain to a warehouse storing hormonal supplements, peptide materials and Retatrutide, a substance still undergoing clinical trials with no confirmed safety record.
