Saudi Arabia may have used a Chinese-origin DF-15A short-range ballistic missile against Houthi forces in Yemen, after debris believed to belong to the weapon was found in Marib Governorate, as per a TOI report. Images circulating online appear to show a DF-15A designation on the missile component, although neither the identification nor its connection to Saudi forces has been confirmed.
The wreckage was reportedly discovered in Raghwan district, where images circulating online appeared to show the designation “DF-15A” on part of the missile. Open-source analysts have identified the debris as belonging to the Chinese-made short-range ballistic missile and linked it to Saudi Arabia, but both the identification and ownership remain unconfirmed.
The discovery comes amid renewed fighting in Yemen, where Houthi forces and Saudi-backed Yemeni forces have intensified hostilities after a prolonged period of relative calm. The Houthis have also increased missile and drone attacks against targets in Saudi Arabia, while Riyadh has stepped up strikes on Houthi positions.
