Gulf countries condemned on Sunday offensive statements made by a spokeswoman of India's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that were deemed offensive to the Prophet Mohammed.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed its vehement condemnation of the statements, stressing its constant rejection of insults to symbols of Islam and symbols and figures of all religions.
It welcomed the measures taken by the BJP to suspend the spokeswoman, reiterating the Kingdom's stance that all religions and beliefs must be respected.
The Qatari and Kuwaiti foreign ministries summoned on Sunday the Indian ambassadors, handing him a complaint that rejects and strongly condemns the statements.
They demanded a formal apology from the Indian government for the hostile remarks.
The Qatar expressed its dismay with the statements, while Kuwait warned that a lack of apology will only stoke extremism and hatred and undermine moderation.
