Ant McPartlin was stunned when he discovered some “distant relatives” while filming for ITV show Saturday Night Takeaway. The incident led to him posting a video to social media showing his excitement.
Takeaway – one of the longest running UK entertainment shows – returned for a brand new series last weekend, with Ant hosting alongside his presenting partner Dec Donnelly. The pair have been back in the studio delivering their 90 minute broadcasts to millions and there have already been a number of surprising moments.
So far, fans have seen Ant and Dec staging a fake baby scan, Ant breaking the rules of Ring My Bell and the duo being banned from their own show by guest Mimi Webb. The show has also included the skit Murder at Bigwig Manor, and it was while filming for this that Ant got a shock, ChronicleLive reports.

There were lots of portraits on the walls and he spotted two that bore a striking resemblance to himself. He joked with co-host Dec that finding the pictures was “like doing DNA Journey again!”
In a video posted on Instagram, he said: “So we're filming the drama for Saturday Night Takeaway and the house is full of paintings... and I've spotted two that look a little bit like my ancestors.”
Dec, who was filming, then moved the camera to show two paintings of a man and a woman, who had similar features to Ant. The presenter excitedly posed next to them as Dec filmed.
“It's like literally me,” Ant said. “Look at this dude! Do you think they're my relations? It's like doing DNA journey again.”
In the comments, Ant and Dec's followers shared their views on how similar the paintings looked to Ant. Joane said: “Omg they totally do. A great aunt and uncle.” And Charlene wrote: “Haha this is so funny. I can see it though.”
Ella commented: “Wow Ant they definitely look like you!!?? xxx” And Stacey added: “You definitely got their eyes and bushy eyebrows xxxx”
