As energy bills are set to skyrocket, households are looking for any way to shave even the smallest amounts off their bills.

Ofgem today confirmed and 80 per cent rise in the energy price cap, sending households' average annual fuel bills from just under £2000 to a soaring £3549 from October 1. The news has shone a light on how much it costs to run basic home appliances, with some being more costly to operate in the long term.

In fact, one important household item - the washing machine - can hike up your energy bills significantly due to its use of electricity.

Scots mum living in tower block 'off-grid' due to crippling fuel bills as she uses candles to light home

A woman has chosen to live in her tower block home “off-grid” because of crippling fuel bills.

Carol Chambers, 47, is thought to be among thousands of people already without electricity as energy costs soar. She was cut off by her supplier and has opted to use solar power, candles and blankets to get through the winter.

Carol has spent around £200 on a “survival pack”, including power banks, solar panels and solar lamps and a camping stove. She plans to brave the cold Scottish winter and has no intention of trying to get her supply reinstated.

Peter Andre 's fans have dubbed his daughter Princess 'the most beautiful girl in the world' after he shared a series of pictures of her while on holiday in Cyprus.

Taking to Instagram, the Mysterious Girl singer, 49, gushed over his eldest girl, Princess, 15, as the family continue to live it up on a sunny getaway. Pete, who shares daughter Princess and son Junior, 17, with ex-wife Katie Price, shared a snap of the teen before the clan headed out to a sunset dinner.

The striking image saw Princess gaze into the camera as she showed off her impeccable modelling skills, with Peter's fans rushing to beg his daughter to sign a modelling contract immediately.

The mystery of a locked safe is enough to make almost anyone curious, and a woman recently had the exciting experience of prying one open.

Tiffany bought a hoarder's former house on auction and when she arrived she was surprised to see that it was still filled with items. One notable item was a sealed safe which the 28-year-old says she says led to a phone call to the police after hours of work to get it open with a grinder and a pickaxe .

She also found vintage TVs and old furniture in the home, making her realise that the property was a worthwhile investment.
