Fugitive Scots drug baron still world's most wanted pensioner as Canada cops continue hunt
Fugitive Scots drug baron William Blackledge has been let off by US drug cops after evading capture for more than 30 years – but is still a wanted man in Canada.
Blackledge, now 87 and believed to be living in Cyprus, rose through the ranks to become a major figure in the global drug trade, working with the Cali crime cartel against rival Pablo Escobar ’s gang to flood the US with cocaine. Crime gang lieutenant Blackledge, originally from Lanarkshire, was put on Interpol’s most wanted list in 2005 – which made him the world’s most wanted pensioner.
But now in a dramatic twist, the US authorities have removed him from their wanted list and decided to no longer pursue a prosecution against him. However, he is still being hunted by Canada.
Body discovered on Scots roundabout as police probe 'unexplained' death
Police have launched a probe into an 'unexplained' death after a body was discovered at a roundabout in Aberdeen in the early hours of this morning.
Cops were alerted and attended the scene between Stoneywood Road and Victoria Street in Dyce at around 3.30am this morning. A body was discovered by officers on arrival.
The road has been closed off this morning, with police confirming an investigation has been launched into the incident.
Scotrail also confirmed that trains in and out of Aberdeen will face cancellations and alterations until midday as police deal with the incident.
Shetland actor Douglas Henshall sparks fury over Queen's 'empty coffin' conspiracy tweet
Shetland actor Douglas Henshall has sparked fury online after claiming the Queen's body is not in her coffin.
The Scots star received backlash on social media after his "shocking" claims as he asked if mourners would still be queuing "if people knew that the Queen isn’t in that coffin".
Furious Twitter users users asked the 56-year-old to "stop spreading lies and conspiracy theories" but Douglas insisted it was a "genuine question" and he was "interested" as he responded.
His tweet said: "Do you think the queue would be so long if people knew that the Queen isn’t in that coffin? Or do they know and it’s just symbolic?"
So far hundreds of people have commented and shared the the tweet.
Pensioner dies after horror crash with bus on A9 as police appeal for information
Police are appealing for information after a pensioner died following a fatal crash on the A9 last night.
The incident, near Slochd, 17 miles south of Inverness, took place at around 7.45pm on Friday, 16 September. The crash involved a silver Audi A4 and a white Volvo B12 single deck coach.
Emergency services attended and the driver of the Audi, a 73-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Eight passengers from the coach were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by the Scottish Ambulance Service where they were treated for minor injuries and later released.
Scots life coach 'lost the plot' before knife frenzy on cops
A Scots life coach armed himself with knives and lashed out at six police officers, when he "lost the plot" outside his home.
Peter Weddle, who champions the power of positive thinking, promised potential clients that he could help them "reach their dreams".
But a court heard that he armed himself with the weapons during a disturbance outside his home. Weddle, 36, admitted six charges of assault and possession of two knives in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.
In 2020 he told how he had overcome heroin and cocaine addiction to publish a book on spirituality, How The Law of Attraction Saved My Life.
