Every new weapon archetype in Destiny 2 needs to cover all elements first, and Spread Shot hand cannons are no exception. With Solar and Kinetic out of the way, Sarpedon-D introduces the archetype to the Arc element.
Sarpedon-D is an Arc Spread Shot hand cannon. This archetype mixes a regular hand cannon with a shotgun for serious damage at close range. Depending on what you’re looking for, you can lean into different subclass synergies or melee damage.
Here are our Sarpedon-D god rolls for PvE and PvP in Destiny 2.

What is the Sarpedon-D god roll in Destiny 2

Sarpedon-D PvE god roll
- Barrel: Smoothbore
- Magazine: Appended Mag
- Perk one: Trickle Charge or Eddy Current
- Perk two: Rolling Storm or Voltshot
- Masterwork: Reload speed
Sarpedon-D PvP god roll
- Barrel: Smoothbore
- Magazine: Appended Mag
- Perk one: Trickle Charge or Eddy Current
- Perk two: Rolling Storm or Voltshot
- Masterwork: Reload speed
Sarpedon-D has two distinct PvE god rolls, depending on whether you want to lean into Bolt Charge or more traditional add-clear with jolt. For Bolt Charge, there’s Trickle Charge with Rolling Storm. Trickle Charge partially loads the magazine from reserves when receiving or discharging Bolt Charge, synergizing well with Rolling Storm, which grants stacks of Bolt Charge on kills.
The add-clear jolting roll is Eddy Current with Voltshot. Voltshot grants a seven-second window to jolt targets when reloading after a kill, and Eddy Current increases reload speed by 20 after sprinting (by 60 when amplified). Ideally, you’d want all four perks on a Tier 5 roll to have a perk for every occasion.
Much like other Spread Shot hand cannons, like Phoneutria Fera, Sarpedon-D features a couple of shotgun-exclusive perks you can incorporate in melee-focused builds. There’s Proximity Power in the third column to buff the melee stat, as well as One-Two Punch and Trench Barrel in the fourth column.
PvP-wise, this hand cannon doesn’t have any notable perks. The best it can do is To The Pain for up to 20 aim assist, paired with Desperate Measures to increase weapon damage with kills. So, if you want to use a Spread Shot hand cannon in the Crucible, the Aureus Neutralizer from Trials of Osiris during The Edge of Fate is a much better option.
How to get Sarpedon-D god roll in Destiny 2

Sarpedon-D drops from Pinnacle Ops in Destiny 2. These include Exotic missions and longer activities, such as Onslaught, The Coil, and Contest of Elders. Any reward can be the hand cannon, but keep an eye out for Bonus Focus drops to focus the weapon.
Because Sarpedon-D is a Pinnacle Ops weapon, it can also become a featured weekly Grandmaster Vanguard Alert weapon. Completing it for the first time during a week guarantees a Tier 5 version with the Accelerated Assault Origin Trait.
