England boss Sarina Wiegman is “very positive” that the Football Association (FA) can reach an agreement with the Lionesses players over bonuses for the Women’s World Cup.
The FA and Lionesses parked talks over performance-related bonuses before the tournament in Australia this summer and they will resume next week.
England players are currently in camp for their upcoming Nations League games against Scotland and the Netherlands, making it the ideal time to meet with the FA.
In a statement before the World Cup, the Lionesses said they were “disappointed” that a deal had not been struck, but Wiegman is confident that a solution will now be found.
“They didn’t get an agreement before the tournament, so they agreed to disagree and then start the conversations again after the World Cup,” said Wiegman.
“It’s been such a short turnaround and those conversations will start again. I am very positive that they will have a good outcome.
“I am very hopeful. I am very positive, because I think the environment has been good. The way that they have been talking to each other has been really good.
“They just need a little more time. I think just take the time and get some solutions. People who are involved, the FA and players, are in good communication.”
